People need more than shelter, more than mere houses. They need homes. Houses can become homes, but only when people feel rooted and connected. As the old saying goes, “Home is where the heart is.” G7D is committed to turn houses and apartments in the Grand River neighborhood into homes by facilitating connection, engagement, and encouraging a loving heart that binds people into families, families to the place, and to other families next door.

On November 11, we held a fall clean up day. 93 volunteers worked for an average of 4 hours and over 300 leaf bags were filled by volunteers and collected by the city of Detroit. Many trees and bushed were trimmed, and much-needed grading done with top soil around 4 homes. The collective effort had a massive impact on overall curb appeal for the neighborhood. Thanks to everyone who participated!
